Love like Waves

It might sound clique,
But I promise you will sway
To the sound of intimate waves.
It comes rushing-
The memories and the heartaches.
When you were running barefoot
On the warm sand that you did not seem to mind to stick to your foot.
You laughed a loud, tinkling laugh
As I built a raft on the shore.
You did not know what for,
For you couldn’t ask for more,
And I felt inclined to one day take you away.
You and I would sail far away,
Where there was only laughter forevermore.
But it didn’t last long and you were swept away
By the lashing current of the waves.
I tried to save you, but your hands slipped
And I am left to bear the memories and heartache
Alone.
It might sound clique
And it might be late,
But
I love you
Yet, lost you
To the sound of the waves.
